Needless to say, I was unable to restore, and had to do a full reinstall of Windows 10 Home. The result was a serious of different fatal errors, including one that mentioned an invalid boot configuration, and another about a removable device not found. I reapplied my stable settings, and restarted. However, I noticed that my XTU settings were reset to defaults. I rebooted my system, and everything seemed OK again. Yesterday, my system started acting strange while playing a game on Steam (Doom 64, part of the new Doom collector bundle). However, using the tool to change parameters in your laptop, such as core voltage, can result in inconclusive and unreliable behavior due to an unsupported processor.I have been using the Intel XTU application for a few months without issues. When the tool is installed in your laptop with an unsupported processor, the user can view system information parameters such as processor information and motherboard and BIOS information. This is because overclocking with Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility only works for Intel® Core™ Processors that include the letters K, KF, HK, X, and XE in their processor number. Some versions of Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility can be installed in laptops or systems and these versions will not work for overclocking purposes. Check to see if the processor is supported.On the download page for Intel XTU, scroll down to the section This download is valid for the product(s) listed below.Go to the Intel download center and type in XTU.Identify your Intel® Processor, or note the Intel® Processor number you need to lookup.

Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility only works for Intel® Core™ processors that include the letters K, KF, HK, X, and XE in their processor number.
